Mr. Event: The Visionaries!
Dear Atlas Event Rental Blog Readers,
Before last Friday night I wouldn’t be able to tell you the last time I set foot on a soccer field. Come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time I even saw a soccer field!
So, imagine my surprise that one of the better events I’ve been to in a long time took place on a soccer field.
“But Mr. Event, you always warn us about having events outside! What would have happened if it was raining?”
That’s a fine question but an unnecessary one: This event took place at an indoor soccer field!
That’s right, an indoor soccer field. I wasn’t even aware that they existed.
The event was a launch party for the new magazine Muses & Visionaries. M & V celebrates women’s successes and encourages them to live a healthy, fulfilling life.
p>Here’s why I was so impressed and thought the organizers did a fantastic job: When was the last time you were standing on a soccer field and didn’t know you were standing on a soccer field? Unless you’re completely clueless, chances are you’re going to know where you are.
For the first half of the event, I didn’t realize what I was standing in/on! The entire venue had been completely transformed. Through a use of drapes and a mix of modern and rustic furniture I thought I was in a scene right out of antiquity. The faux grass under our feet even fit right into the entire theme. I noticed it as soon as I stepped on it, but it never occurred to me that I was in an indoor sports arena.
Of course, all the other requirements of an excellent party were present. Champagne, wine or a cocktail were available as soon as you walked in and there was a constant flow of hors d’oeuvres of both the sweet and savory variety. Before I left there had to be no less than 700 people and the party was going strong.
You know that I always look for new things in events that are well done. I can honestly say that I was very surprised that my keen eye for detail completely missed the reality of where I was standing. M & V took a vast, utilitarian space and transformed it into a sophisticated evening.
I tip my hat to them!
